Frequently asked questions
How do I make a countdown to a date?
Type a name for the event, choose the date and time, and pick a time zone (or leave it on local time), then press Start countdown. The page shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds left and updates every second.
Can I share my countdown?
Yes. The address of your countdown contains the name, date, time and zone — for example /countdown?title=Launch&date=2026-12-01&time=09:00&tz=America/New_York — so anyone who opens the link sees the same countdown. Use the share button to copy it or send it from your phone.
Should I pick a time zone or use local time?
Pick a zone when the moment is fixed — a product launch at 9:00 in New York happens at the same instant for everyone, wherever they are. Leave it on local time for things like New Year, which happen at midnight wherever each person is.
Does the countdown handle daylight saving time?
Yes. Time zones use the full IANA time-zone database, so a countdown across a clock change is still exact to the second.
Can I add the event to my calendar?
Yes — press Add to calendar under a running countdown to download an .ics file that Google Calendar, Apple Calendar and Outlook can all import.
What happens when the countdown reaches zero?
A chime plays (if the page is open and sound is on), the tiles stop at zero and the page says the countdown has ended. The link keeps working, so you can see when it ended.
